OCR Nationals Guidance

*** Well if things stayed the same forever we'd just get bored...***

OCR has yet again rewritten Nationals, and since you folks seem to love 'em, here I go again, rewriting them. Again.

Amazingly, though, I think this one might be a good'un - but it SO isn't easy or straightforward: assuming that the plans go ahead, we're now looking at FOUR UNITS: TWO compulsory (and assessed externally!) and TWO Options, and much more of a traditional approach, so you're back to formal homework and mock exams and all that, just like the GCSE. That's where I'm a little uncomfortable, since exams are a pretty dumb way of checking understanding in my view: a parrot can pass an exam, but I'm not letting a parrot near my pc.

That said, I am happy that there's a techie route for those of us into bits and bytes, there's a creative route for future Spielbergs, and a data route for the future decision makers. Remember me when you make your millions, OK? Just a few hundred thousand quid a year would be very welcome!

Still. That's the way this course is going, and as I get to know more, I'll add it here. Since we're running (again) two different quals with the same name - confused? me? - I'll be putting the 'old' stuff on the 'other ICT' tab over the summer, and putting the new, new Nationals stuff here. There'll be a reminder on this page for the outgoing old new Nationals candidates, so fret not.

NOTE!!!

This site is designed to support you in your studies, not to be a stand-in for poor attendance. Make sure you check what happened if you must miss a lesson.

You should have a list of the deadlines for your course given to you at the beginning of the course. Make sure that you keep it somewhere safe - but somewhere you can refer to every week to make sure you stay on schedule. If you start to slip - TELL YOUR TEACHER!!!.
