Unit 2: Using ICT skills to create business solutions

Here you have to use what you know to help you develop an understanding of how to select the most suitable software and use the most appropriate tools within that software to achieve the outcome you need. Notice that nowhere in there does it say, 'your teacher will tell you what to choose'. YOU have to THINK for YOURSELF. If I'm your boss, and you ask me to think for you, well, what am I employing you for? In these tighter times, you need to become self-reliant. Your teacher will HELP, but is not allowed to do it for you. YOU ask, 'I think it's this because...' and that's OK. You're thinking, trying to learn, getting involved. You ask,' What do I use?' and you're on the wrong course.

So this part of the course focuses on:

  • Using techniques to search for, store and share information (legally!)
  • Selecting and using software to handle data
  • Selecting and using software to coimmunicate information for business purposes
  • Using software tools for format documents

This Unit is assessed sort of like in Geography, Leisure and Tourism, Business: there's a sort of controlled assessment. As with Unit 1, if YOU are the reason YOU don't do well, then I will be less than impressed. And I will share that sentiment, believe me.

Example - draft - paper and resources here:

NOTE!!!

This site is designed to support you in your studies, not to be a stand-in for poor attendance. Make sure you check what happened if you must miss a lesson.

You should have a list of the deadlines for your course given to you at the beginning of the course. Make sure that you keep it somewhere safe - but somewhere you can refer to every week to make sure you stay on schedule. If you start to slip - TELL YOUR TEACHER!!!.
