Cambridge Nationals

The Intro:

So this now comes in three flavours:

• Award (half-GCSE, or Short Course GCSE equivalent)
• Certificate (Full GCSE equivalent)
• Diploma (Two full GCSE equivalent)

It's assessed more formally, really - Unit 1 has a written paper, and Unit 2 is like a controlled assessment.

You can earn grades of Pass, Merit or Distinction, same as always, but for the Level 2 course you can also achieve Distinction* which mirrors A* at GCSE.

To achieve the Award you need complete the first two compulsory Units
For Certificate, it's those two plus two more
For Diploma it's the first two, plus six more. Yeah, that's a lot, but it IS two GCSEs, and they're not cheap, despite what some might think..

Check out the links for more info about, and helpful resources for, each Unit. Come the summer this will all move to the main Level 2 slot, with the 'old' new new Nationals shifting to make space. The draft spec is HERE for your perusal: the Board seemed pretty confident that this is one on which we can rely.
